First Aid training can save a life!
Did you know that over the last 10 years 19 lives were saved at Dublin airport thanks to the use of an external defibrillator?
All these people suffered cardiac arrest. They were saved by Dublin airport police and fire service. The team of Dublin airport police and fire service are trained in how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). Within minutes they are at the scene and can perform lifesaving CPR and shock the failed heart back into action.
In 2012 alone 3 lives were saved at Dublin airport. Even though the vast majority of emergency calls at Dublin airport are simple fainting attacks you still need to know what to do.
The figures just show how important it is to know CPR and how to use an AED. Everybody should be trained in these life saving techniques. You don't need to be fire fighter or paramedic to save a life.
