CPR & AED Courses
This 4 hour CPR & AED course is dedicated to life saving cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to successfully use an AED.
It will also teach you how to handle situation of foreign body airway obstruction (choking) and stroke.
Approximately 10,000 people die from cardiovascular disease every year in Ireland and it is estimated that 5,000 of these deaths are from a sudden cardiac arrest.
70% of cardiac arrests in Ireland occur out of hospital and usually in the presence of a family member or friend so if you know how to perform CPR you may be able to help save a life.
- The chance of surviving cardiac arrest is decreased by 7-10% with each minute that passes after collapse.
- Defibrillation provides the single most important therapy for the treatment of cardiac arrest in the adult patient.
- Early CPR and defibrillation within the first 3–5 minutes after collapse, plus early advanced care can result in high (greater than 50%) long-term survival rates for witnessed cardiac arrests.
- The value of early CPR by bystanders is that it can “buy time” by maintaining some blood flow to the heart and brain during cardiac arrest.
We can run this course on your premises at time convenient for you.
The course will be delivered by an instructor who is a Cardiac First Responder and has successfully passed the exams of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the last 2 years. The course follows the recommendation of the American Heart Association.
