The HSA ceased the operations of the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent (OFAAA) on 31st October 2016. As and from 1st September 2017, the HSA will only recognise PHECC FAR as meeting the needs of OFA in workplaces. This means that learners who undergo training from 1st September 2017 must complete a FAR full or refresher course.
The HSA recognises both the QQI OFA and PHECC FAR learner standards up to 31st August 2017.
Any learner who completes a QQI OFA full or refresher course up to 31st August 2017 will be recognised by the HSA as an occupational first aider for the full 2 year duration of their certificate.
From 1st September 2017, learners should only complete a FAR full or refresher course in order to be recognised by the HSA as an occupational first aider.
There is a requirement under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 to have a sufficient number of First Aid Responders trained and deployed in the workplace.
Employers have specifically a duty to provide first-aid materials/equipment at all places of work where working conditions require it. Depending on the size and/or specific hazards of the workplace, trained occupational first aiders must also be provided.
For more information see the guidelines of the H.S.A. (Health and Safety Authority) on First Aid at the work place.
The full course will be delivered over 3 days with a 2 hour assessment/exam at the end. If you book a full course to be delivered in house then you can split this over a number of weeks. Our public First Aid Course is delivered in Dublin at the Maldron Hotel near the Naas Road.
You can only participate in a 2 day First Aid Response refresher course if your certificate expired within the last three months. If your certificate is more than three months out of date you must complete the full 3 day course again.

I attended the First aid for everyone Paediatric course in Bewleys Hotel on Saturday the 12th May 2012 . The course was very informative and very interesting in the delivery.
Siobhan made everyone feel at ease and there was excellent interaction. It was a revision course for a lot of the group but it was the best by far on information, delivery, visual information and equipment.
Thanks a million for delivering a fantastic First Aid course to us on Friday. Girls thoroughly enjoyed as did I.
You seemed to cover everything efficiently and managed to ensure we all participated in the practical aspects also.
Just thought it warranted a massive ‘Thank You’.
Everything is so well organised and the extra little touches like all the goodies, you being there to meet and greet and all the personal stories the instructor has make the course really really good.
So thank you very much. I can go back to the crèche again with more confidence and knowledge should any first aid situation arise.
